About AutoRepairDB
What We Do
AutoRepairDB gives everyday drivers the information they need to understand their car, diagnose problems, and decide whether to DIY or visit a mechanic. All content is free.
Data Sources
NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration): Vehicle complaint and recall data is sourced from the NHTSA public API at api.nhtsa.gov. This is the same data used by government regulators and consumer safety organizations.
OBD2 Code Database: Diagnostic trouble code information is compiled from SAE J2012 standards, manufacturer technical service bulletins, and ASE-certified technician resources.
BLS Labor Data: Mechanic cost estimates use Bureau of Labor Statistics Occupational Employment data for auto service technicians (SOC 49-3023).
